So the LA movie Death Note will be shown in theaters here May 20th and 21st!  I might go... I dunno yet.  It'll be cool to see it on the big screen, but it's dubbed... and I'm a sub snob.  >.>

OMG, there's actually locations within a reasonable distance from me.  No way!

I'm so torn whether or not I want to go.  I would love to see it in theaters, but I don't want it to be dubbed.  Why couldn't they just show it subtitled?!  Dubs are awful!!   Cry

I want to go, one of the theaters is even across the street from where I work (and just opened last summer, a couple of weeks before HP was released). Sadly, I work 2nd shift and will be taking calls those days. I could have asked for the time off, but I also just took a week long vacation, so the timing isn't so good. But then again, dub... eck. Especially LA dub, lip flaps are harder to match (if they even bother).

The ICA in London is showing a pair of movies by Tetsuya Nakashima this month, First is Kamikaze Girls (7-12 Jun) followed by Memories of Matsuko (13-22 Jun).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamikaze_girls
I've seen Kamikaze Girls before and, were it not for the short notice and the fact that the ICA has the most uncomfortable cinema seats in the world, I'd be there like a shot.

Memories of Matsuko is one I haven't seen but would like to. It stars (kinda) Eita who I've seen, and enjoyed, in Nodame and Last Friends and I've just found out was in the LA adaption of Kimi wa Petto which I'm now going to shuffle off and see if D-addict have a copy of.

Also, and I'm slightly peeved about missing this due to prior commitments, the NFT is running one of its "Anime Now" festivals again.

Just check out the line up on this one:

5 Centimetres per Second + Makoto Shinkai in Conversation

Appleseed: Ex Machina

Death Note

Preview: Death Note 2

Preview: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Paprika

The Place Promised in Our Early Days

Tekkonkinkreet

Vexille

Why is it always when I'm busiest that the good stuff happens? Arse!

Well it's finally confirmed and I'm allowed to start telling people. We have, as Sci-Fi-London's opening night film, the live action remake of Blood: The Last Vampire!

http://www.dailymotion.com/user/SFLTV/video/x8kz8f_blood-the-last-vampire-trailer_shortfilms

To say I'm over excited is an understatement. We're actually showing it a month before it goes on general release in Japan and it looks like it'll be it's first ever showing outside of Japan.

There's loads more we're doing this year which is still hush-hush but it's all going to be megas-exciting.

That ain't no dub!  I hadn't heard of this LA until now, but I really enjoyed that trailer.  Awesome Penfold! I wish I were in London to attend, but if it's in English maybe they are plans to release it here too.  :0

http://www.sci-fi-london.com/festival/2009/oktoberfest/programme/all-nighter-anime.php

We're at it again. Sci-Fi London's Oktoberfest has yet another anime allnighter. I'm almost upset about working it as I'd really like to actually sit in on this one.

The festival's almost over and boy am I knackered.

Oh, that's one hell of a line-up! Jealous, I am.
Darn tootin' it is. We added in at the last minute Panda-go-panda and FMA: Brotherhood ep 1 as well. In all the allnighter ran from just after midnight to about 10am the next morning. I just slept for about 17 hours to get over it all. phew.

We've changed our website as well so the anime it is now here.
http://www.sci-fi-london.com/news/television/anime
as we've changed the back-end most of the old anime's gunna be missing for a while.
